Today, I’m an Advanced Cicerone, a National BJCP beer judge, and a partner at a top craft beer bar in San Francisco. I remember back when I decided to level up my beer smarts and first looked at the paltry syllabi for the CBS and CC exams.

I wasn’t quite sure what to study, what depth of knowledge was required for each section, what the format of the test would be, and what exam tricks and tips I would need. I passed the CBS and CC in 2013 and the AC exam in 2017 (I took the second AC exam the program ever gave!).
