HEAL YOURSELF TO HEALTH

Thriving as a single mom, and a workaholic who pushes herself to the limit, I realized to reach my full potential and fulfillment in life is to focus on my health.

What is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is a form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body. Reiki can also be done long distance. There are many versions of Reiki. The one I practice is the original Reiki as taught by Dr Mikao Usui. Not just anyone can call themselves a Reiki Healer. Professional Reiki healer must complete Reiki Level 1 and Level 2. Some practitioner continue their education to the Master Reiki level and then advanced to the Master Teacher level.

Is Reiki healing being used in mainstream healthcare?

According to an article published in Washington Post on May 16, 2014, “More than 60 U.S. hospitals have adopted Reiki as part of patient services, according to a UCLA study, and Reiki education is offered at 800 hospitals.” Just to name a few some of those institutions are Johns Hopkins, Duke Integrative Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, UCLA Medical Center, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

By now Reiki is much more a common practice in health care arena and in virtually all integrative health institutions.

No.  Reiki is non-invasive and have no known harmful side effects.

What happens during a Reiki Session?

During a Reiki session, the practitioner is seeking to transmit Universal Life Energy to the client. The intention is to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms you may be experiencing.

Reiki can be administered hands on in person, or a practitioner may just hover their hands over your body without touching you.  Reiki can also be done long distance where you will be asked to sit or lay down in a quiet place and just relax.

What does it feel like to receive a Reiki healing?

The experience is very individual.  Some people may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy.  Some may feel nothing at all during the treatments.  The lack of sensation doesn’t mean that the it doesn’t work, it just how your body sense energy at that time.  Most people feel peace and calm.  Some people even feel asleep during the treatment.  Certain people will experience spiritual connections and may even have “visions” or dreams.

How long does a Reiki session last?

The length of the session depends on the client and the reiki practitioner.  I normally kept my sessions between 30-45 minutes.   Some clients will draw much energy and some not so much depends on their current state of health and well-being
