Exciting Projects are Happening and You Can Help

The non-profit organization Street Epistemology International (SEI) is working on several important projects to support and be aware of:

Self-Directed Course

Research

A growing number of people learning and applying Street Epistemology are experiencing promising results. While these stories are encouraging, we are aware of the issues that can result from placing too much confidence in anecdotal evidence. Systematically researching the effectiveness of SE has been a desire from many in the community and is also a key goal of SEI.

Ideally, people with the necessary expertise and resources will conduct formal, independent research on SE and publish their results. In addition to simply waiting for this to happen, a proactive effort by SEI is underway to seek researchers interested in examining various facets of Street Epistemology.

The SE community is vast and supportive and it’s quite possible some funding could be raised to partly cover expenses associated with such a study. SEI is willing to serve as the liaison between objective researchers and the broader SE community, if desired. We are sensitive to the idea of introducing our own biases, expect results to be published regardless of the findings, and would defer to an experienced researcher’s study design.

If you are a researcher interested in studying Street Epistemology, and you think we at SEI could be of any assistance in this regard, please email [email protected]. We will be happy to schedule an online meeting to discuss the requirements for a study and the best ways for us to support your project to the best of our abilities.

Committee Gatherings

Part of SEI’s mission is to provide people around the world with the resources needed to develop, practice and promote Street Epistemology. With this in mind, SEI has formed two important Committees that meet online on a regular basis to help meet the needs of specific areas within the Street Epistemology community:

Content Creators Committee

The Content Creators Committee hosts a regularly-scheduled Zoom meeting with both new and seasoned SE content creators to support their efforts to create and publish content across various social media platform for those who want to:

1. Meet others who have thought about creating their own SE content.
2. Learn the skills to better master the social media platforms of your choice.
3. Address obstacles that typically dissuade individuals from producing SE content.
4. Address common equipment needs that arise with producing your own SE content.
